Destruction of Memory Film Screening

February 6, 2019

International Law Society and the Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations co-sponsored a film screening and Q&A with writer, director, and producer Tim Slade! Over the past century, cultural destruction has brought catastrophic results across the globe. In Iraq and Syria, the 'cradle of civilization,' millennia of culture are being destroyed. The push to protect, salvage, and rebuild has moved in step with the destruction. Based on the book of the same name by Robert Bevan, this film looked not just at the ongoing actions of ISIS and other contemporary situations, but revealed the decisions of the past that allowed the issue to remain hidden in the shadows for so many years. A panel followed to discuss the film and took questions from the audience.
